Abstract
Ankle is part of the human anatomy which is very vulnerable and it is estimated that 19%
of all sports injuries accounted from ankle injuries. Ankle sprains are a condition in which
there is an excessive increase or tear of the ligaments in the foot. Ankle sprains are
common during sports activities that involve jumping, running and explosive lateral
movements. Hockey is a sport that can be played by two male and female teams, each of
which can use a bat or stick to move or dribble. Hockey players have a high prevalence and
incidence of injuries. Most of the ankle injuries in hockey are to the anterior part of the
lateral ligament which generally occurs when the foot is inverted. External risk of injury,
one of which is the factor of unfavorable field conditions. Knowledge of sports injuries,
especially ankle sprains, is given to all related parties, including members of UKM Hockey
UIN Raden Fatah during or before training begins in order to minimize the occurrence of
injuries. The method used in this community service activity is in the form of an education
of first treatment and functional rehabilitation of ankle sprains given to members of the
Hockey UKM UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and carried out online using the zoom
application. The understanding and knowledge of members of UKM Hockey UIN Raden
Fatah regarding the first treatment and functional rehabilitation of ankle sprain sized
using pre-test and post-test questionnaires which showed an increase of the understanding
and knowledge in the community.
