Strengthening teachers’ skills in understanding and modifying mathematics problems based on numeracy framework
Abstract
The Ministry of Education and Culture has launched AKM (Minimum Competency
Assessment), one of which is evaluating students’ numeracy. This skill can prepare
students for self-capacity development and participation positively in society. However,
numeracy-oriented mathematics learning resources in partner groups have not been
optimal. This social service aims to strengthen the skills of teachers in compiling
numeracy-oriented learning resources. The activity is packaged in several stages, which
are carried out offline and online by utilizing interactive discussion methods, worksheet
assignments and discussion forums on Google Classroom. Positive results were obtained
related to the teachers' understanding of numeracy and its characteristics from the stage
of strengthening numeracy skills for partner teachers. In addition, teachers have also
been able to analyze learning resources and modify numeracy problems very well.
