Strengthening of Geography Teachers MGMP in Salatiga City in Learning Geography on Materials for Coastal Landscapes through Field-Work Activities at Menganti Beach, Kebumen Regency
Abstract
Learning Geography for Coastal Landscapes will be more effective if it is carried out in
the field by direct observation through field-work activities. High school geography
teachers who are members of the Subject Teachers' Conference (MGMP) organization in
Salatiga have agreed to be assisted in understanding the field-work activities of this
coastal area. Field-work activities are observations of coastal landscape phenomena
which include zoning of coastal areas, dynamics of coastal morphology, wave activity,
currents, and seawater tidal mechanisms that will be easily understood by students by
directly observing nature in the field. Menganti Beach in Ayah District, Kebumen
Regency, Central Java was chosen because it has a complex geological, geomorphological,
and oceanographical landscape. The Lecturer Service Team accompanied by 2 students
will carry out activities agreed with the Geography MGMP of Salatiga Regency to
strengthen the learning process of coastal landscape materials with field-work activities.
This field-work activity is the best choice in understanding coastal landscape material to
coastal students compared to only being done in class. The output of this community
service is the strengthening of learning material on coastal landscapes with fieldwork
and publications in the media and the proceedings of the national community service
seminar
