Tendency of Language Errors in Speech of MPBI UMS Students

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain language errors in the transcription of the Sukoharjo Regent's speech prepared by students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program (MPBI) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). The method used in this article is qualitative description with data collection done through documentation method. Techniques include reading, analyzing, presenting, and drawing conclusions from the data collected. The data analysis technique uses interactive proposed by Miles and Huberman, which consists of four main components: data collection, data reduction (simplification), data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results obtained from the article: (1) Phonological Errors: errors in the use of capitalization, italics, and punctuation, (2) Morphological Errors: affixation problems, and (3) Syntactic Errors: sentences that show non-standard structures, ambiguous or unclear words, inappropriate diction, and redundancy.
