Inaccuracies in Pronunciation in Solopos Newspaper Edition 3-4 May 2025
Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze forms of diction inaccuracy in the news of Solopos newspaper, as well as evaluate its impact on readers' understanding and effectiveness of journalistic communication. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data was collected through literature studies and documentation in the form of text excerpts from the Solopos newspaper. The data analysis process in this study uses content analysis techniques, which are carried out by identifying, grouping, and interpreting findings in news texts based on types of diction errors, such as the use of nonstandard words, excessive words, inaccuracies in meaning, and inconsistency with context. In its implementation, this analysis is strengthened by the foundation of relevant linguistic theories, especially those related to the study of diction. The results of the study showed that there were several diction errors which included the use of non-standard words, word waste, inaccuracy of meaning, and the selection of words that were not in accordance with the context. These errors can disrupt the clarity of information and potentially lower the credibility of the media. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of precision in the selection of diction for the mass media as part of efforts to maintain the quality of journalistic language and build public trust.
